Dail y Log

24 July 2015

AM Cool, Sunny

The morning began with pick passes in Locus 10 . The soil continues to be a much darker brown than the soil present in Locus 11 and Locus 12 . While the need to drop Locus 10 in quick manner is strong, we are still finding a healthy amount of terracotta tile and pottery sherds. During the first pick pass for example, an unusual terracotta fragment with a potential nail hole was found (Find #1) and an unusual bone was found as well (Find #2).

PM Hot, Breezy

The afternoon started with the continuation of lowering the level of Locus 10 . Additionally, definition of the sides of the linear rock formation are being done to find the second register of rocks. Pottery and terracotta tile are still abundant in Locus 10 as well as bone. Trowels and small hand picks are being used to remove dirt from the south side of the rock formation. In the east end of the trench on the southern side of the linear rock formation, a long and large bone was uncovered (Find #7). It was accidentally picked.
