Daily Log
June 16, 2003
We began the day by measuring the opening heights of the trench. We then resumed our excavation of Locus 2 throughout the trench by pick and trowel.Toward the southwestern corner, we may have come upon a new soil type - a lighter, browner color. To determine if this color change persists, we plan to bring the rest of the locus down to the same layer. In the process, we noticed that rocks R2 and R3 were floating, so they were removed.
We completed the straightening of the South balk of T28 N (2002).
In the afternoon, we continued bringing down Locus 2 . The soil matrix continued as before, and the color change seen in the morning proved elusive. We cleaned up early due to the threat of rain.
