A second cut to a depth of 60 cm from the surface of the eastern wall was begun in Rectangle 19 this morning starting in grids A-E/5 and moving north. Apparently, the floor level in the rectangle at the time of the Upper Building destruction lay near the 50 cm mark, as shown by the position of yesterday's architectural terracottas and finds from today which are being recovered from the upper-most portion of the 60 cm cut.
Notable is a broken Italo-Corinthian vessel, pieces of which are being recovered across the width of the rectangle in the A-E/5 grids at the 50-55 cm depth. An Upper Building tile, of which the complete width and approx. 2/3 the length is preserved, was found lying at the 50 cm depth in D/4. The process of revealing the junction between the north flank of the north wall and east agger wall in AG-11 was completed - a loom weight and Italo Corinthian frag. being the only finds.
