8 July 1969

Because of the dampness of the soil work was postponed on the NW cut (Section 2) and a new area (5m. x 5m.) was cleared SW (Section 3) of the original cut. A fragment of a cornice (find #10) was found in the topsoil. Lower layers produced what may be the continuation of the wall across the W end.

Pieces of tile found in the rocky area were mostly small, with few pottery fragments.

Tile fragments (large pieces) found 7 July in the SE end of the NW cut were joined to form 1 large pand tile 80 cm in length.
