A.M.

Set up walking area in the morning.  It was decided that tomb 5 should be worked on first.  The boxes containing the bones (still in earth) were placed on the work table.  The remaining tombs (in wooden boxes) are placed on the floor, sitting on strips of wood to avoid the dampness.

Tomb 5: 7 boxes plus one large mass of earth wrapped in burlap

Photographed the contents of Box 1.

P.M.

Started cleaning parts of long bones in earth with a dry brush.

Left femur - shaft intact, filled with earth, line a aspera useable

Began uncovering a long bone from the earth, using a dental pick and a soft brush.  Observed many rootlets.  The bone appears to be lying on rock.  It is fragmented, but the earth is holding it together.  Underneath the earth to the side of this large bone, uncovered a thin flat bone -- ? skull.
