A.M.
The remaining portion of meter L(M)/65 was excavated to a level of approximately 80 cm. The soil in this meter was slightly darker brown than the medium brown soil with plaster and carbon inclusions foudn in meters K-L(M)/66. Approximately 1/2 a latte box of pottery was removed along with about 1/2 a cassette of tile.
The tile line formation found in meters K-L(M)/66 was drawn (p.83) and removed. Approximate positions of finds from this tile line formation are noted in the drawing. Interestingly, the large majority of finds form the last 3 days of excavation came from this area including today's finds of a portion of an impasto base (#1), a fragment of incised bucchero (#2), a piece of bone with cut marks (#3) and a head of a bronze nail (#4).
Since this as the final work day before break, several tiles were excavated from the exposed baulk of meter K-L-M-N/63 in order
to protect this area.
The total amount of pottery excazvated form the area around the tile line comprised about 1 and 1/4 latte boxes whilew the total amount of tile was almost a full cassette of cleanly broken large fragments of pan tiles with only a few occurrances of cover tile. About 20 small pieces of pithos were also found and stored on the baulk for later removal.
