Metals Summary

 Very few metals were recovered from T90 in the 2018 field season. Only 17 metal finds were recovered, in total, and of those, the majority were amorphous bronze flakes or iron fragments. The exceptions are a bronze bead (20180025) and a folded bronze sheet fragment (20180029), which were recovered from Loci 17 and 18, respectively.

 It is impossible to discern depositional patterns of metals in T90. This is both because of the small amount of metals recovered, but also because there was little consistency in the amount of metals found across equivalent deposits. Locus 18 yielded the most metals, with 5 fragments found in this locus, but Locus 18 is equivalent to Locus 11, where were recovered no metallic finds. The rest of the loci yielded only the occasional metallic find. This is surprising, given the high quantities of slag recovered from T90 in both 2017 and 2018. In fact, the loci that bore the most slag, Loci 13 and 19, yielded only the scattered metallic find, while Locus 18, which contained the most metal finds, yielded only small quantities of slag.
