Daily Trench Journal
Area F, Trench 20
June 11, 2005
M. Baldi
We should finish taking most of the red soil today. Workers report that the ground is soft and unlike bricks. Severe deterioration of these bricks make it hard to make a good determination. The loam used on them is quite soft and fine. The second aim for the day will be to authenticate a wall believed to be next to the south baulk, and to articulate it better. Both of these projects will be completed tomorrow.Created Locus # 6 to separate the work done on this wall on the south end of the trench from the rest.

Has note | The purpose of the daily journal was to record the activities taking place in a trench each day. This included which loci were excavated, how and why loci were excavated and the ongoing impressions of the relationships among loci. It should be noted that journals record the actions, impressions and ideas of trench supervisors during the excavations. They are not, therefore, the final interpretations or syntheses of the emerging data. |
