The cut begun yesterday in D-E/68-70 was completed to a deoth of ca. 60-65cm. The soil was dark brown in color and contained some yellow, disintegrated plaster. A large amount of mixed pottery (2 boxes) and bone (1 box) was again discovered. One quarter cassetta of worn tile was also found.
The protective plastic in Y/68-70 was uncovered and rolled back in order to determine the proximity of the edge of the floor to the trench bulk in D/68-70. The poorly preserved floor terminated ca. 5-10cm from the trench bulk. The surface of the floor was swept and photographs were taken for documentation.
Work was also begun in shaving down the trench bulk in preparation for a sectional drawing. The small
tree protruding from the bulk in B/68 was removed. The soil beneath the tree was yellow-grey in color and contained a few small rocks. One quarter cassetta of worn tile was removed from among the roots of the tree.
A second, larger tree was removed from the side of the west bulk in H/68. The soil beneath the tree wa dark brown in color and contained a large concentration of small rocks. One half cassetta of mixed tile and plaster (80% tile, 20% plaster) was found among the roots of the tree.
