Total slag: 7 fragments

Total weight: 163 grams

Very few metals were recovered from T 59. Only two pieces of bronze were found in the trench, both in Locus 5 , a contextualized stratum defined by the rock features that comprised it. Both fragments were unidentifiable fragments or bronze flakes.

Evidence for metal production was scant in T 59. Only seven fragments of iron slag were recovered from the trench, both from contextualized and decontextualized deposits. From topsoil, which was Loci 1 , 2 , and 3 , three fragments of slag were recovered (one fragment from Locus 1 and two fragments from Locus 2 ). In total, these fragments weighed 80 grams, nearly half of the total slag recovered from T 59. The remaining examples of slag came from the contextualized deposits of Loci 4 and 5 , with Locus 4 yielding one piece of slag and Locus 5 three fragments. Slag from contextualized deposits amounted to just over half of all slag recovered from T 59.

It should be noted that four fragments of possible slag were originally identified in Locus 2 , but only two of these four fragments were actually slag.
