Today we continued excavating through Locus 1. It remains a mixed context of modern and ancient materials. It appears to be a plough zone.

 

PM

In the afternoon we began to encounter a more compacted layer. This was exposed across the entire trench. In order to declare it a new locus we began to scrape the baulk walls. Locus 2 was declared and photos were taken.
