A new trench in the west end of T-26 will be metered out roughly from T-X (north to south) and 53-59 (west to east). This trench will proceed northward to meet the areas previously excavated by M. Wilcox in 1987-1988. The purposes of the excavation will be the same as those set out by M. Wilcox '87 and '88 and S. Leach 1978 excavation of T-22:

1. To complete the stratigraphical profile that runs from the Upper Building to the Southeast Building.

2. To explore the possibility of the existence of southern defense walls for the Upper Building.

3. To search for lateral sima in an area previously considered (devoid) in sima.

4. To find complete pottery profiles such as were discovered in T-22 by S. Leach in 1978.

The method used in metering out the trench is found on p. 22.

All depth measurements will be taken according to the groundline relative to the meter mentioned. As there has been previous excavation in the area, topsoil cuts have been taken in some areas (see p. 26). Also, the groundline does rise as you move northward.

The trench will be excavated only 1/2 the day on a regular basis.
