The tile pack in 76/M-O was lifted.  Several pieces of pithos were found.  A thick cover tile, originally thought to be ridgepole, preserved an entire profile.  Large chunks of plaster are numerous in this area.  One piece with three finished edges will be brought down to the magazino.

Grids 72/M-O and 73/O were taken down another cut.  A sloping ground line makes P/72 80 cm below surface and M/72 90-95 cm below surface.  In the deeper parts, earth is reddish brown and filled with plaster.  Earth above this (at 80 cm) is a lighter brown.  Several pieces of bronze were

found throughout all these meters.  Ivory too was encountered, as well as tiny (ivory?) balls similar to those found by A. A. Carpino ( see AAC I, p. 40 ).  Pottery filled a latte box by noon.

Work continued in 75-76/M-O.  The tile pack in this area continued at the present level (c. 65 cm) at least until the stump in 75.  Great quantities of both tile and plaster were found.  (Cassetta of tile = 4, plaster = 2.)  A clay slingstone came out of 75/N.  Clay wasters were also found.

74/O and 73/M-O on the other side of the large stump were brought down to the level of this morning's cut.  (73/M measures 80 cm.)  Three spindle whorls were found in O/74.  These all came from under or within the stump.  More ivory (?) balls and fragments were found.  One cassetta of tile was dumped and one of plaster
