Introduction - 1980

The beginning of the 1980 season found a mound of disturbed earth, produced by illicit excavation over the winter, occupying an area approx. 3 m wide (grids G-I) and approx. 17 m long (grids 29-45 - ).  It appears that the soil had been pulled away from the scarp which moves in an irregular line east to west and roughly demarcates the present southernmost edge of the excavated areas of T-18/T-19.

Our first task of the season is to remove the soil and retrieve whatever material ignored by the clandestini.  Although we have no way of knowing where the objects within the excavated pile of earth were originally located, the grid designation employed of T-18 and T-19 will be assigned to the following selected objects.
