A.M.

Work began with baulk wall trimming, for we believe we are near the soil change.  After completion of the baulk wall trimming, the floor was leveled with trowels and a shallow pick pass was made in the southwest corner, for the elevation was significantly higher due to the presence of many roots.

In baulk walls:

• Tile: 1/3 bowl
• Pottery: 6 pieces

P.M.

The floor of the trench continued to be troweled down in order to level the trench, and subsequently the trench was swept.  After this, photos were taken and locus 1 was closed.  Closing elevations for Locus 1 were:

• A: 131.5 cm b.d. (27.665 m AE)
• B: 127.5 cm b.d. (27.705 m AE)
• C: 130.0 cm b.d. (27.68 m AE)
• D: 129.5 cm b.d. (27.685 m AE)
• E: 135.0 cm b.d. (27.63 m AE)

Locus 1 (floor):

• Tile: 30 pieces
• Pottery: 8 pieces

After photos and elevations were taken, Locus 2 was opened and a half of a pick pass was made in the northern meters of the trench.

The soil of Locus 2 resembles galestra; it is grayish yellow in color and consists of many small flakes.

Locus 2:

• Tile: 1/4 bowl
• Pottery: 18 pieces

1 piece of modern, painted tile was found during the first pick pass into Locus 2.  However, it was found directly under the location of a former rock pile, possibly accounting for its depth.
