Work continued on section B as the removal of a second layer (c. 10 cm) was completed.
After this had been done, another 20 cm layer of section B was removed. Thus, now section B was being excavated down to the floor level of rectangle 7.
One box of tile and pithos fragments dumped.
In the center of the lowest 20 cm of section B were the remains of a small tree trunk or large branch (a beam?) which was lying underneath a layer of tiles. Around the "beam," which was dark carbon, was a section of bright orange earth (
).
