Photos of trench.

June 17, 1975

Work continued on the final cleaning of the room T18 n.e. in grids J-P/28-30.  The earth was cleaned only down to the plaster/burnt earth stratum, where it was visible.

In grids N/28-30, the earth slopes down sharply to what is possibly the rear wall of the room.  This area, when brushed down, revealed a stone packing.  The red plaster/burnt earth was not in evidence in this area.

The area was cleaned and prepared for photography.

Excavation began on T19 grids J-M/26-27.  The brush and tall grass were cleared from the area and then a cut c. 20 cm was taken in grids J/26-27.  A large amount of tile and plaster were found near the surface in this area.

After the grass and topsoil were removed, another 20 cm layer of soil was excavated - this soil was dark brown.

1 cassetta of tile - dumped.
