Trench Layout

Trench Layout

The boundaries of the trench were laid out using a baseline shot with the transit off the grid point PC 1 and a second baseline extending at a 90 degree angle. Using triangulation a 3x3m trench was established with the NW corner at a location of 10N/4W.

The coordinates of the four corners of CA 62 at the time of the start of the 2009 season are as follows:

NW corner: 10N/4W

NE corner: 10N/1W

SE corner: 7N/1W

SW corner: 7N/4W

A datum point with an absolute elevation of 29.75m was established on a tree located 2m east of the PC 1 baseline.
