opening elevations and photos for locus 1 taken. locus 1 comprised of topsoil with a mix of leaves, tree roots, and small rocks approximately 5-10 cm in size. the dirt is a dry dusty dirt. the munsell designation is 10YR 2/2, very dark brown. the first pick pass was taken in the northern meter of the trench. a few deeper pick axe swings pulled up yellowish, clay like soil similar to the locus 2 soils of surrounding trenches in the CA area. the munsell designation for this locus is 2.5Y 3/3, dark olive brown. no terracotta, pottery or other materials found. work stopped due to thunderstorm.
