A.M.

Completed pick pass begun previous afternoon.  During sifting found 2 special finds. Find #1 was a piece of a bronze file and Find #2 was pieces of a possible cooking vessel.  Began and completed baulk trim for entire trench.  After finishing baulk trim and levelling floor, examined the soil and noticed a change in the stratigraphy.  Thus, we concluded we were entering a new locus.  The soil is a lighter brown and is clumpier.  Also contains higher amounts of carbonm burnt terracotta and high volumes of plaster.  Before ending for the day we found a fragment of iron on the surface directly over the top of the baulk wall where the buckets sit.  The find was most likely from Locus 4 , lost from the bucket during sifting.  It was labelled as Find Find #3.

Closing elevations for Locus 4 are:

52S/182E = 27.105

52S/180E = 27.06

49S/182E = 27.085

49S/180E = 27.13
