The baulk walls of Locus 5 were trimmed, using hand picks and trowels.

One pick pass was conducted across the locus. The soil remains light brown and claylike with the medium sized rocks being removed as they appear.
After three more pick passes the soil is slightly more yellow in colour and more crumbly, also flakey in places.
Two pan tiles ave alos been revealed under the sloping rock in the east.

Three more pick passes were conducted across Locus 5 . The soil is now bright yellow and white, signifying sterile soil. The sloe of this soil will now be traced through into Locus 4 in order to gauge the natural sloe of the hill. The northern and eastern baulk walls will also be trimmed.
