Cut 4: One last act was made into Stratum D to mroe clearly define the stones in D. Nothing was found but several remaining fragments from Stratum C were recorded. From H5 a fragment of an iron tube (which fit the piece recovered at the end of yesterday). And a bronze pendant;
three other fragments,
and a painted sherd. From H6 (C) another painted fragment was uncovered lying directly on Stratum D.
Cut 7: Work continued in grids AC 456. The dike was pulled down in grid C and a cut into the covering of the call (cut 8) was laid out in grids AC 3. Cut 7 was taken down to Straum C but the differentiation between B and C is slight and it could not be determined which was which. The depth reache was 0.70 +/- 0.05 m. A box of
tiles and 2 strawberry boxes of sherds, mostly discarded objects, no bucchero or painted fragments were recovered.
Cut 6: Excavation continued in Cut 6 into the sought after EAst-West wall in grids A 12. The earth was continually yellow brown permeable cay to a depth of 0.10 m at which point it became flaked with carbon but of the same consistency. Stones were uncovered at 0.65 m and descending like steps to a depth of 0.90 m. The wall does seem to be a continuation of the one outside of the room running up to the eastern edge wall but it is not complete. The dike is
Grid C was removed in Grid C1 in Stratum C at a depth of 0.58 m a spindle whorl with an incised starlike pattern was recovered.
