This morning we began by cleaning the trench in anticipation of declaring new loci. The linear stone feature in the north-east corner of the trench will be declared a new locus; likewise, in order to determine the northern extent of the linear stone feature, an extension will be made to the northern part of the trench. These new loci are Locus 4 and Locus 5 respectively. Locus 3 will remain open in the remainder of the trench.
Locus 4: Coordinates and Elevations
- 42W/34N – 308.39mASL
- 40W/34N – 308.40mASL
- 42W/32N – 308.41mASL
- 40W/32N – 308.32mASL
Locus 5: Coordinates and Elevations
(cf. trench sketch)
- 77W/32N – 307.39mASL
- 46W/30.74N – 307.38mASL
- 40W/32N – 307.37mASL
Following this excavation commenced in Locus 4. We are excavating via shovel and pick method. Due to time constraints we are not sorting materials from this upper stratum – a plough zone.
PM
