A.M.

Took a cut in Y-Z/15 (and approximately 20 cm of Y-Z/14), lowering the floor to roughly 200-198 cm b.d.  The cut was somewhat uneven due to a large rock in the south portion of Y/15 and a number of small stones scattered about.  The soil north of the large stone was medium brown with carbon flecks and some plaster, while the soil south of the rock was more yellowish-brown with some carbon.  Towards the bottom of the cut in Z/14-15, especially in the western section, there was a darker soil with carbon and plaster inclusions.  This work produced 9 1/2 latte boxes of pottery and bone fragments and 1/3 of a cassetta of tile and plaster.  All finds came from this area, in cluding a bone "disk" fragment (#5) with portions of two holes which seems like it will join with the fragment on page 73, find #5.  The fragment came out of hte yellowish-medium brown soil with carbon.  An italo-corinthian base fragment with incsied and painted decoration (#3) was also found within this area, in the yellowish brown soil.  The deocration on this fragment is very similar to that on the rim and neck fragment on page 82, find #10.

Continued work on removing the stone concentration in Y/16-017, producing 1/4 latte box of pottery and 10-12 fragments of tile and plaster fragments.
