Sectioning of the well continuedtoday in CA42.  7 layers of stones were removed from the exposed side of the wall and from the middle of the "aperture."  As each layer of stones was removed the soil packed between them was cleaned out and photos of the well taken.  The soil was dry and hard in the first few layers but then became very moist and clayey, especially in the middle of the well.  The stones seemed to have been layed in radial fashion creating what appears to have been the aperture of the well now fille with stones that probably collapsed to the inside from the higher stone layers.  The aperture is approximately 50cm in diameter.  It is possible tha the well was constructed by arranging stones to form an aperture first and then filling the spaces between the radially placed stones and foundation trench walls with other smaller rocks many of which are resting perpendicular to the fround flat side against the wall.  once excavated these stones are not supported by soil and fall off easily (see p. 145 )

The soil of the well (locus 22) produced a little of archeological material: 1 bone fragment, 1 small tile piece and 12 worn and small (0.5-3cm) coarse impasto fragments, including a rim, all between wall stones.

Work also continued in CA42N.  The floor of locus 14 was leveled during which process few more medium size rocks(15-20cm) were exposed and several tile fragments were found laying flat on the ground or wedged in between the rocks which might indicate that the floor of the "feature" was reached.  The soil in N14 W8-9 and most of N13 W8-9 is pale yellow and sterile.  Work also continued in locus 15, under the large stump, where soil is still dark and contains a lot of carbon and organic debris.  A large part of situla from which a part of handle was found yesterday was exposed under the east part of the stump.  It was so fragmented and friable that it was decided to photograph it and not to attempt lifting it.  Under the western part of the stump a large fragment of coilmade impasto rim and little piece of bronze were found as well as 8 bone and 7 impasto fragments.  Locus 14 produced 22 impasto, 3 bone, 3 tile fragments and 3 plaster pieces.  Drawing of the "feature" was made and photos taken.
