July 1st 2024,

AM: T108 was laid out, the trench was cleaned in preparation for the excavation. We began the trench drawing and took opening photos and opening locust 1 photos.

PM: We used the Munsell book to determine the color of Locus 1. The color is 3/3 dark brown 10YR. Elevations were taken.

Opening elevations:

NW: -69cm BD (below datum) (28.17 m) NE -57 cm BD (28.29 m) SE -76cm BD (28.10 m) SW -73 BD (28.13 m)

T108 is somewhat level with two stumps along the west end of the trench with one being in the NW corner. The east side of the trench has a collection of small rocks, which are more concentrated on the NE side.

We began our first pickpass beginning in the end of the trench and axed the northern half of the trench. We encountered a large amount of rocks varying from 5 to 10 cm. Many roots varying in size were encountered. Pieces of terracotta from 20 to ½ a centimeter were collected.

Closing Totals: ½ bowl of terracotta fragments

Closing Elevations NW -69cm BD (28.17 m) NE -57 cm (28.29 m)

These corners remained the same since this area if the trench was not yet excavated. SE -76cm BD (28.10 m) SW -73 BD (28.13 m)
