The cut through grid squares B-H, 3 was continued and the area of black earth continued to produce pottery without tiles. Wednesday's digging had shown that in some places the blackened eath underlay the yellowish earth elsewhere present in the trench.

The cut across the trench (B-H, 3) was extended northwards to include the area B-H, 4. The black earth was centred on the section C-D, 3-4. Similar pottery continused to appear including rather large fragments of vases with complete handles and rims. Galestra only, free of tiles came from the north-western end of the trench.

This deeper cut was then also extended to the south to include B-F, 2.

Found: tile with letter fragment E2.
