The stone complex was cleaned and some remaioning pockets of brown soil removed - but areas of brown soil, relatively devoid of artifacts, were left in grids G 11-14, H 11-13, I-K 11-12
Sent down was one box of pottery from the brown soil around the stone complex, and one small bag of bones from same. It appears that the brown soil occurs, at least in the area of the stone complex, on about the same level as the black layer C el\xf2sewhere, in the old trench - but that here the two do not occur superimposed - brown soil takes the place of the black, which is evident in profiles of the northern corners of the present trench.
Dumped - 1/2 Box tiles and 31 rough pieces of plaster, about 5 undecorated pieces of lateral sima were also dumped. Very rough profiles and a sketch of the stone complex were provisionally made - better ones will be taken when the walls and stones are...
...fully cleaned later in the month when the architect arrives to draw the features and take depth readings.
