# 8 At a depth of 1.20 m in grid HH17 a possible statue fragment came to light.

The layer of small stone mixed with earth which marks the beginning of Stratum B increases in density about 0.25 m deep whereupon the stones are densely packed on top of each other interspersed with numerous vase fragments and occassional finds and wet clay.
ONe box of sherds was taken to the magazino, labeled CA28- GG-JJ, 16-17 Stratum B. IN the box were many frags. of feet and lips, many pieces which join (enough to give dimensions and profile) of mostly light buff both yellow and orange, thick imposto utility frags. and a few pieces of black ware one especially note-worthy foot with a partially preserved painted and stamped tondo.
In the afternoon more black ware frags. were recovered which may fit last mentioned.

Pottery fragments continuted to come out this afternoon. Another box was taken to the magazino from Stratum B, GG- JJ, 16 and 17. Also a box of sherds from Stratum A, EE- NN 19 and 20 was taken to be washed. Most of
these sherds were surface findsm badly abraded. A good 70% wree dumped, signigicant pieces were saved. Two bags of bones were taken in as well, one from each area.
