No work done in morning because trench is too wet after yesterday's rain.
PM
Work recommended in the afternoon by trimming baulk walls. Once this was done, the southern meters in Locus 1 , amidst the southern cluster of large rocks, was excavated using handpicks and trowels, in order to bring this area down to the same elevations as the similar areas in Locus 2 and Locus 3 . While troweling, the new, yellowish-brown soil previously discovered in Locus 2 and Locus 3 was found in Locus 1 , once all the medium brown, claylike topsoil was removed. Soil was hand sorted directly into buckets in the trench and small amounts of tile, pottery, and bone were found. Once all topsoil was removed and all loci brought to the same elevation, Loci 1 , 2 , and 3 were all closed. Closing photos and elevations were taken for each locus.
