Trench Layout

Trench Layout

CB-61 is a 3 x 2 meter trench located approximately 30 meters south of the medieval road. Coordinates for base points of the eastern boundary of the trench were shot using a Transit and trench lines were strung using triangulation on an arbitrary grid based on the location of trenches from the initial years of excavation at Poggio Civitate at the Archaic Building. A datum point at an absolute elevation of 24.58 meters was configured using a Transit.

The trench lies on a slight incline and is directly south of CB-62 by about one meter. Coordinates for CB-61 are the following:

- NE corner: 57 E / 72 S

- NW corner: 54 E / 72 S

- SW corner: 54 E / 74 S

- SE corner: 57 E / 74 S
