Pick Passes in both locus 4 and locus

5 . The soil was sorted in the trench into buckets with trowels. During that clean up found a piece of worked and decorated bone, decorated with incisions (special find #1). Also found two pieces of incised pottery with a scallop type decoration on them (special find #2 and 3). These fragments were found in the same general area and appear to be parts of the same vessel. However there are no obvious joins between the two pieces.

A hand ax was used in locus

5 to further remove the soil. Pottery is again being recovered but it appears to only be coming from the southern most extent of the locus. Another pick pass in locus 4 completed. Found what appears to be a ball of iron slag given its weight smell and that fact that it is cold to the touch.

The iron slag was found near the large stump in the southern portion of locus 4 near the 151 E line. On the other side of the stump was found another lump of similar material which seems to be iron slag (special find #5).

A pick pass was done in locus 4 . While picking up the soil a third piece of iron slag was found near the stump (special find #6). In the northern part of locus 4 more of the galestra slope was exposed. In locus 5 the last section of large rock was removed, more of the yellow soil with gray and gold inclusions is underneath. A hand pick was used to remove soil from locus 5 .

After cleaning up the pick pass the northern slope was scraped to further define the extent of the yellow soil. The stump on the 151 m mark was defined. The baulk walls of Locus 5 were cleaned, no material has been recovered in a while.
