Using hand pick picked eastern most one meter strip 3-5cm deep. Soil sorted and cleared. Soil type consistent with Locus 2 still. Pick pass done with pick axe in southern most meter strip. Dirt cleared and sorted. 4-6cm stones coming up in both pick passes. Pick pass done in last western meter strip, avoiding stumps and the rock feature area. Soil consistent with Locus 2, sorted and cleaned. Picking done in north meter of the trench as well as east of the rock feature area, pulling in towards it. Dirt sorted and cleared, remains consistent with Locus 2. Southern meter strip picked with hand pick. While picking found special find—Medieval pottery. Dirt sorted and cleared, still Locus 2.

Began troweling middle section of the trench where rock feature was located. Rocks found 4-6cm are being left and defined to see if rock feature extends vertically into the stratigraphy. Dirt sorted and cleared, soil type remaining consistent with Locus 2. Troweling revealed 4-6cm sized stones in the soil beneath the original rock packing. This new collection of stones is appearing slightly east of the original about 10cm. It is also smaller than the original feature. There maybe

a slight circular shape to it, but due to two small stumps in the midst of this new feature it is difficult to tell if the location, size, and shape are affected by bioturbation. Rocks more clearly defined and lightly swept. In cleaning and leveling southwest of the rock feature found special find—Medieval pottery.
