Daily Log

June 15, 2005

Due to thunderstorms, work did not commence on the hill until 11 A.M., at which point water was bailed from the trench with buckets.  There was approximately 5 cm of standing water in the trench.

In the afternoon, the location of the trench was re-determined on the master grid system using triangulation.  The coordinates of the trench are S52/E167, S52/E171, S56/E167, and S56/E171.

It should be noted that the location of the trench is actually 1 meter farther east than was recorded in the 2004 season.  After triangulation, nails were inserted at the corners and string was tied around the nails, marking the boundaries of the trench.
