Lifting was finished. No appreciable amount of carbon was found in the second large pot and none at tall at the bottom of it. This fact, plus the finding of a bronze handle (cauldron?) and several pieces of fine bucchero, made it more probable that the pots were from a house previously but fairly close in date to the temple. The strip was taken down further and a line of stones began to appear across it at 4.30 m N and 1.35 m down. The outside southern edge of the temple corner was also taken down and the wall foudn to extend south.

The tile bed in the western half was cleaned, but digging in the eastern end failed to produce at similar layer.

The fallen stones inside the corner of the southern wall and the crosswall were lifted so ast to clarify the wall and make the distinction between laid and fallen stones. The area around the bone pit in trenches 1X, 1Z, 1AC was taken down but produced nothing new except a few pieces of bone right inside the pit.

The second course was started, beginning fromt he N edge. A great number of tiles, 10 boxes, and 1 box of plaster were found, with concentration in the N part of the trench and along the E edge. A wall appeared in the S part of the trench and seemed to form a right angle with the southern wall and to go northwards. A spindle whorl was found in the N part of the trench.
