The two large rocks in F/6 were lifted at the beginning of the morning in order to reveal the junction between the east and south walls.  In cleaning down the corner of the two walls a pile of egg-sized round river stones, approximately 100 in number, were uncovered.  Apparently these small stones- missiles for a sling- were stacked in the corner between the walls before the space was filled in and this position may determine the floor level of this section of the defense system.  The stones were left in situ for the photographs to record.  It now appears that the floor level between the walls lays at a depth of 2 meters from the preserved surface of the east wall.  A fragment of frieze plaque cavetto was found at the same depth: hence the fill between the walls dates to the destruction of the Upper Building.

Grids A,B/3,4 were cleared of the stone fall before the east wall in order to expose its eastern flank.  A small ribbon of bronze and a painted sherd were recovered in this operation.

In addition the south flank of the south wall was cleared in grids G/4-8.  It appears that this south wall runs well to the east, at least in grids 2, 3, and 4.  Presumably this wall may run the length of the southern flank of the Tesoro complex.  In G-6 at a depth of 1m20 from the surface of the east wall a bronze cutting implement, perhaps an adyl, was found.  In the

same grid of a depth of 2 meters fragments of a bucchero pesante handle were found along iwth cavetto fragments from the lateral sima.
