P.M.

A second cut was completed in meters L-M/68-71 to a depth of ca. 25cm.  The soil in the cut remained dark brown in color and contained a high concentration of small rocks and roots.  One cassetta of worn tile and one quarter of a cassetta of impasto pottery was recovered.

The tile concentration at the base of the trnehc in meters D-E/68-71 continued to be cleaned with hammer and mestalina.  Cleaning revealed a large amount of both cover and pan tile frangments lying scattered about the trnehc floor.  The tile formation now appears to extend into meters D-E/70, but further cleaning will be necessary in order to determine

its western boundary.

A cut was also begun in meters H-I/68-71 to a depth of ca. 100 to 140cm.  The soil in the northern half of meters H/68-71 and I/68-71 was dark brown in color and contained many small rocks.  In addition, a female lateral sima head from the upper building was discovered while cleeaning down thee balk in meter I/68 at a depth of ca. 85cm.  The head was found placed between two large rocks which were protruding from the trench wall.  The soil around the head was dark brown in color

and very loose in consistency.  No pottery was recovered from the area around the head.  One quarter cassetta of worn tile and a few pieces of worn impasto pottery were discovered i the dark brown soil in meters H-I/68-71.
