Description Locus 9 was the soil located inside of the "circular" rock feature, which was later proved to be just rocks and backfill from an earlier trench, probably one of the Tesoro 6 trenches. Locus 9 is listed as having closed on 16 July, because that is when Locus 11 was declared in the area under what had been Locus 9, but in fact, all of the soil of Locus 9 was removed when it was excavated with a trowel on 14 July. Therefore, Locus 9 sits on top of and inside of Locus 8, which was initially deemed the circular rock feature but which proved later to be backfill. The soil of Locus 9 was very dry and light in color, a pale yellowish or light olive brown brown. Finds were few. No closing points or elevations were taken for Locus 9, since it stood on top of a rock feature, which was later pulled up and removed.
