Description Locus 1 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material loosely packed and heavily included with vegetal debris and roots. One large stone present at surface level. Two large stumps fifty to one hundred centimeters in diameter appear along the northern baulk wall of the trench. Very small concentration of worn terra cotta and pottery recovered. The locus was relatively shallow--between five and eight centimeters deep. Locus 1 is equivalent to Locus 6 and Locus 9.
