Daily Log

Excavation continued in locus 8.  The terracotta concentration (tile, brick, dolia fragments) in this locus was defined and photographs taken.  Approximately 1 can of terracotta fragments recovered; two fragments were saved (one with hatch marks and one with a curved finished edge).  Approximately 1 bowl of pottery sherds found excluding special finds.  Some bone fragments found including a jaw fragment (pig?).  An approximatley 30 X 20 X 20 cm limestone rock was removed from the center of the trench.  Most of the pottery sherds appeared to be situated directly under the terracotta concentration and there were flecks of carbon found there also.

Locus 10 established.  It consists of soil inside partial bowl (approximately 18 X 12 X 2 cm.), special find #3.
