Provenance | This object is dated to the Byzantine period based on style. However, Tomb 19, from where it was excavated, also contained remains from the mid-8th century through end of the 6th century (Iron IIC-Babylonian/Persian period). In the publication, the dating of Tomb 19 is given as follows: "MI ii-iii; Byz." (Wampler 1947, TEN vol. II, p.125). MI ii-iii refers to "Middle Iron ii-iii, ca. 750-500 BCE in the old chronological system. |
