| Description | Sediment sample 13.22 had an original volume of 30 litres, the date of recovery was not noted. It derives from trench/area T26, locus 13. The sample was floated on the 19.7.2022. The light fraction showed a low abundance of charred plant remains, further details on its content can only be assessed in the future. The heavy fraction was sorted on the 27.7.2022. It was divided into a >6mm, >3mm, and >1mm fraction. Of the >6mm 100% were sorted. Due to large volume and very low abundance of finds the >3mm fraction was subsampled and only 10% were sorted. The >1mm fraction was not sorted at all but stored in the magazzino for eventual future sorting. Variety of arte- and geofacts was low. In the >6mm fraction bone and pottery/terracotta/clay-based debris were found and entirely recovered. In the >3mm fraction charcoal and hammerscale were recovered. The presence of was pottery/terracotta noted, but as fragments were non-diagnostic they were not recovered. Approximately 95% of the heavy fraction consists of wattle and daub fragments, these are though not recovered. |
