Description |
Locus 5 is the locus directly to the east of Locus 3, contains the western buttressing rock that served as an architectural support to the terra cotta pipe and abuts on the north to the southern flank of the Archaic structure wall. Locus is very shallow, measuring approximately 3-5 cm in depth. Locus 5 has a slight downward slope from the north to the south. Locus 5 is considered to be non-contextual because of previous excavation and all materials found within would have been placed there organically through natural erosion; very little materials were found within and most were heavily abraded given the non-contextual nature of the locus. Locus 5 is heavily compacted and is full of small to medium sized rocks and a few small roots from the grouping of trees present within the southern baulk. Locus 5 is synonymous with Locus 3 and Locus 4.
