Field Description Compact to cemented stratified thin hearth lenses, partly disturbed by rodent and insect burrows. Is the ash calcitic at all; is there also incipient alteration from apatite to leucophosphite, etc.? Are the burrows containing clay, which we expect below ~530 cm bd? Is there any charcoal in the “charcoal layers”?
Sample No. HAY-98-228b
THIN SECTION Observations More clear signs of burrowing; more roots than in 228a.
