Condition | Fragments are worn, abraded, and slightly encrusted. Fragment A preserves a finished interior and exterior face, as well as a finished rim, but is broken on all other sides. Fragment B preserves a finished interior and exterior face, as well as a finished rim, but is broken on all other sides. Fragment C preserves a finished interior and exterior face, but is broken on all other sides. Though associated, these fragments do not join. Fragment A consolidated from six pieces. Fragment B consolidated from two pieces. |
Description | Two impasto rim fragments with one associated body sherd. Fragment A is a rim with a finished edge that projects down into portions of preserved vessel body. In profile on the exterior, the rim has a beveled edge which projects at an approximately one-hundred-and-fifteen degrees outward for 0.01037m before carinating at about a one-hundred-and-thirty-five degree angle to project inward for 0.01372m. In profile on the interior, the rim has a convexly protruding edge 0.00410m in height after which the fragment concavely arcs for a length of 0.01648m. The way in which the exterior and interior interact in profile causes the fragment in section to be thickest at the point of the approximately one-hundred-and-thirty-five degree angle turn of the exterior. Below the rim, the body gently arcs convexely along the exterior face and concavely along the interior face. In section the body fragment is thickest at the point just below its attachment point to the rim. Fragment B has the same profile and section as Fragment A, but with less of the vessel body preserved. Fragment C is a body fragment with concave interior and convex exterior. |
