Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Description Remants of earliest plaster floor in f846 ("tholos"). Patches of white plaster/pise occurring directly below L2483 - the floor make-up of f871 - & representing remnants if an earlier surface of f846. Sherds & bone from L2483 are firmly compressed into what remains of the original plaster, which is best preserved where it has been covered & protected by this later material. Among the well-preserved floor material was a fragment of plaster with a ?painted surface (sf.#20), & another similar fragment discovered the following day (sf#21). Both have an orangey-red surface (ochre wash?) & may represent part of the original floor surface of f846 9/8 This remains true i.e. "original floor plaster" but colour probably derives from wash of pot sherds pressed down onto the plaster for long periods of time & responsible, in fact, for its partial preservation.
