Description A portion of an Ionic pottery base is preserved. Black paint is preserved on the exterior surface of the fragment while the interior surface was left unpainted. There is a bevelled edge along the very bottom of the exterior of the base which is less than 0.001 m in height. From this slight ridge the base gently curves upwards. At the top of the preserved fragment the slope becomes a bit sharper as if rising up into the stem of the vessel. The interior surface is smooth without any trace of paint. The bottom of the interior surface is flat, but then begins to curve upwards at the same point where the exterior slope becomes steeper.
