Definition Threshold of Eastern Doorway in the South Wall
Top (m) Opening Levels: 905.778 m (southeast).
Description This sandstone threshold is composed of two adjacent rows of stones 1.73 m in length and with a combined width of 0.54 m. Their height is 0.16 m. The outer (southern) row consists of a single stone, dressed diagonally on its outer face which runs flush with the southern edge of the east doorway. In the East, there is a 0.22 m high “step down” which extends northward 0.53 m and is 0.15 m in thickness. In the West, there is a hole 0.25 m in diameter cut into the western face of the doorway at the same level of the threshold. The purposes of the step down and the hole are unknown, but are assumed to relate to the attachment of the door with the threshold.
