Description Perhaps a rear corner of the back extension of a sima. The side has a raised edge which appears nearly rectangular in cross-section (the inside corner is slightly curved). This edge widens toward the back: marks made in smoothing the raised edges can be seen in the surface of the base. The back raised edge is flat on top and has an overhanging lip which projects over the base. Near the break, the lower part of this edge becomes narrower. At the break, the edge thickens and ends in an irregular surface which may be original. There is a semicircular notch (0.050 m across) in the back raised edge 0.034 m from the corner: perhaps a cover tile would have fitted into it. There are extensive traces of red paint on the base, the inside and outside surfaces of the raised edges (more remains on the back than on the side) and the bottom. The chipped areas on the outside surface of the corner also have traces of red paint.
Fabric Description Coarse clay with inclusions of stone fired orange-brown; blackened areas on bottom.
