Description Brown (Munsell 7.5 YR 5/4) earth of fine, loose silt. Approximately 0.08 m above the floor of the doorway, soil included a medium amount of randomly distributed pieces (roughly 0.01 m in diameter) of charcoal, as well as a medium amount of pulverized plaster. This locus includes a number of minor fluvial layers containing some architectural plaster, as well as a larger amount of Nabataean painted wares. During the pottery analysis, we identified a Nabataean inscription embossed on a small piece of pottery (0.03 m-by-0.023 m–by-0.01 m) as belonging to this layer (Seq. No. 73109). Less large stones are found here than in Locus 10.
